Gravel biking became my passion after lockdowns, a desk job, and a shoulder injury ended my skateboarding days. After binge-watching YouTube videos, I took a leap and bought my first gravel bike. My first ride? A freezing winter adventure through deep snow—terrible gear, but an incredible feeling of victory.
Now, every Saturday, I ride with friends—all former skaters. We formed Lazy Loops Gravel Rabble (@LazyLoops_GravelRabble), even making our own jerseys thanks to @serpentartwork. Twente is our playground—gravel roads, forest trails, and rolling heather fields, just minutes from home.
This route starts at Kristalbad, passing through Vliegveld Twente, a former military airbase now transformed into a beautiful cycling area. From there, we head towards Oldenzaal and cross into Germany, where smooth gravel roads take us to Eierhütte, a self-service farm shop with coffee, homemade cakes, and winter hotdogs. The ride loops back through scenic singletracks, making for the perfect party pace morning adventure.
